Be more Informed and less Opinionated.
"Well in MY Opinion..." A lot of managers use this very phrase to impose their thoughts or decision on subordinates. It is a cop out from justifying their view. A manager many not need to explain their reasoning, but if they want their subordinates to have belief in them, they had better learn to convey justification and reason to their people.
"In My Opinion" is a short cut to avoid logically debating the point. It bludgeons your subordinates with your view. "In My Opinion" is used by leaders who refuses to listen to reason, and dictate what will happen. Dictatorship is not leadership. People should want to follow your lead, not be forced to do what you want.
Want to be made fun of?
Open your ears a little more often, and hear, otherwise you will fall foul of the very circumstance eloquently explained by Professor Brain Cox
'In My Opinion' is not based on facts, references or specific expertise.
"The problem with today's world is that everyone believes they have the right to express their opinion AND have others listen to it. The correct statement of individual rights is that everyone has the right to an opinion, but crucially, that opinion can be roundly ignored and even made fun of, particularly if it is demonstrably nonsense!"
Open your ears a little more often, and hear, and your people will be more likely to hear what you say too.
